Film photography is back in a big way. If you're a photographer and you've discovered this wonderful medium or if you've been shooting film for a long time, you know how expensive it can be. A huge portion of the costs of shooting film is owed to getting good scans from a photo lab - if you're anything like me you've discovered that film labs often yield less than satisfactory results, or charge an arm and a leg for robust files in addition to high resolution downloads.
When I decided to pursue film photography I figured out early on that to make the hobby and eventually profession doable, I needed to figure out a way to save costs on scanning. I discovered how to scan film at home with a digital camera, a light box, a copy stand, and a film holder.
But that is just the beginning. Then you have to learn how to actually digitize and color your film negative scans.
